Traditional Mask and Dance

The Conservation Center

The pioneers of Ambalangoda kolam masks and kolam dancing are the lineage of maha ambalangoda Tukka Wadu gunadasa.

This was proved by the book ‘ kolam nataka sahithya’ written by the late professor M.H. Gunathilake who did the research about the kolam dancing in Sri Lanka.

According to a concept of ‘Kalaguru Tukka Wadu gunadasa Kolam Natya Sansadaya’ the Conservation Centre for kolam masks and dancing was opened for the public on 2nd of June 2014.

It was built on the grants provided by Hon. Shan wijayalal De Silva, the chief minister of Southern province.
