Kolam Mask      

For creating a kolam mask, ‘gimpol’ some people called it Din trees (Nipa fruticans), were used at the beginning period.

Because the masks which made of gimpol were not durable, ‘Wel Kaduru’ tree (Strychnos Nus Vomica) was used by the old craftmen.

After creating the masks they prepared natural colours from the pigments of white was prepared from kaolin( makulu), red from cinnabar ( gurugal ), yellow from hirigal, black from soot ablating by burning cotton cloth or charcoal and green from leaves of kikirindiya ranavara were mixing with oil of the tree called ‘dorana’
